About
It is helpful to have an understanding of who I am and my approach to therapy to determine if I may be the right fit for you.

I believe in a comprehensive and holistic approach to treatment. Not only do I focus on the issues that brought a client in, but I also learn their history as the person I am sitting with is a culmination of many pieces. This history, together with a client’s current concerns, may be the result of previous learned patterns that affect your view of yourself and your world.
More often than not, I find individuals are harder on themselves than they are on anyone else in their lives. They are filled with negative judgment of themselves and their behaviors. My goal is to help you clearly see how you are thinking about yourself and the beliefs you hold about yourself. The more present and aware you are of your thoughts and feelings, the more likely you can make different choices in terms of responding to challenges in your life.
Research shows that the most important factor in counseling is the actual therapeutic relationship itself. I firmly believe this and strive to create a safe and trusting environment that fosters a strong therapeutic alliance. I do this by moving at a pace that feels comfortable for you and by listening from a non judgmental place. It is essential you find comfort in our relationship as this comfort will allow you to be your true, uninhibited self. My goal is to help you be your true self when you sit in the room with me. I want you to recognize that you are your own best therapist. I will help you cultivate the tools and strategies you need to understand facts versus thoughts and to sift through challenging emotions. I help you build trust in you.
I have worked in a variety of treatment settings including university counseling centers, private schools, hospitals, and non-profit organizations. Some of these sites include University of Miami, University of Central Florida, University of Georgia, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and Gulliver Preparatory.
Outside of my psychology practice, I am married and a mother of two little red-headed girls! I come from a very large family, have five siblings, and an Australian Shepard named Maisie. I value my friendships, my community, and work hard to balance my professional career and personal life. I love reading, dancing, paddle boarding, exercising, and watching TV. I value being honest and genuine; staying true to who you are. I assure you I will bring this to our sessions together and encourage you to do the same.
